The Summer Date Night Challenge is an opportunity for married and dating couples to spend intentional time together in order to deepen their relationship with each other and their relationship with God through participating in service. For those who have families, it is proven that couples who spend intentional time together leave a lasting impact on their children especially when it comes to passing on the Catholic faith.
We are inviting couples to participate in three date nights. The date nights are described below. Those who participate will receive a list of ideas for possible dates and questions that you and your partner can ask each other during the date or at the conclusion of the date.
Date #1: Family Matters
Find a family-owned or local restaurant to have dinner at this month. You can try something new or go to one of your favorite spots.
Suggestions include: The Midway Restaurant, Antonio Bacaro Restaurant, Newcomb Farms, The Village Manor, The Brickhouse Cafe
Date #2: Time for Adventure
Choose a date outside of your comfort zone. You can go on a challenging hike or a kayak or canoe trip for the day. Try something new and challenging for both of you.
Suggestions include: visit the newly opened Canvas Studio, the Design Lab on Fairmount Ave in Hyde Park Rock Spot Climbing (indoor rock-climbing), Paddle Boston, Hike the Blue Hills, try an escape room, cycling, go on a spontaneous car trip, go to a concert, etc.
Date #3: Service
Pick a project (big or small) to serve someone in a tangible way this summer.
Suggestions include: Volunteering at the Catholic Parishes of the Blue Hills for an event such as Touch a Truck or serve at a local food bank. It does not have to be a huge project but do something together and bring the kids if you like!
You can sign up for the Summer Date Night Challenge by filling out the form below or by printing out and completing the form to return to Anna Cote at our Collaborative Offices located at 20 Como Road in Hyde Park, MA.
During the date, we will provide you with questions or topics for conversation that will spark some ideas on conversations that can happen during the date.
We asking couples to take a picture together during the date. You can then post those photos to social media. We are asking people to email the photos to acote@bluehillscollaborative.org. You can send each photo individually or after the 3 dates. We will not post the photos anywhere but it will serve as a way of monitoring who is following through on the challenge.
At the end of the Summer Date Night Challenge during September, we will have a wrap-up dinner at a local restaurant for all couples who participated. We will provide more details about this event at a later date.
