The Church has celebrated together in song since the night of the Last Supper (",,,and after singing a hymn, they went out..."). Today, as part of this diocesan Year of the Eucharist, we are drawing on our rich musical treasury to praise and to proclaim the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

From our oldest surviving Eucharistic hymn Sancti venite, and on through St. Thomas Aquinas' great Corpus Christi compositions, works of the Classical and Romantic periods, and modern pieces written both before and after Vatican II, our Eucharistic songs inspire us all as we gather together in every age and land to "proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes."

Thank you for joining us today as we make a joyful noise in acclamation and celebration of the Lord's greatest gift: His very Body and Blood.
